THE FARMERS MARKET
FARMERS MARKET 12th SEASON COMPLETED
A large group of creative kids and pets paraded through the Farmers Market on a beautiful Autumn October 11th. All received “goodie bags” provided by the Alden Chamber of Commerce.
The winners were: 1st place, Victoria, Matthew, and Savannah as Dorothy, the Cowardly Lion, and Scarecrow, respectively, of the Wizard of Oz; 2d place, Aria, as an adorable bumble bee; and 3d place, Olivia, as a very creative fish tank!
In the Pet Category, the 1st place winner was Clyde, an adorable Boston Terrier “rufferee”, 2nd place was Journey, an American Eskimo in a tutu, and 3rd was Princess, a wiener dog, as Super Dog. Vendors from Just for You jewelry, Tupperware, and Purely Yours Organics served as judges. Bethany Fonda and friend provided music.
This was the closing day for the Market's twelfth season. Vendor stalls overflowed with beautiful peppers, pears, pumpkins, crafts and other products. Also, with the help of donations from Tops Market of Alden, Alden Chamber members and vendors were treated to a complementary hot dog roast.
The Market has thrived through the commitment of a core group of volunteers who contributed countless hours and energy all season long. Many thanks to Nancy Hughes, our fearless Market Manager, who intends to step aside next year. However, plans for next year's Market are already being discussed and we look forward to a new season. Great vendors and community support are key. And, as usual, the Alden Advertiser has played a significant role in the Market’s success by providing weekly space for our news articles.
Sponsored by the Alden Chamber of Commerce, the Market is located between Tractor Supply and Save a Lot, in front of the Advance Auto Parts Store. The Chamber welcomes any ideas for improving the Market. Give the office a call over the winter (937-6177) and let us know how you’d like to participate next year.
Alden-area groups are encouraged to sell food and/or have information tables at the Market. Crafters and other potential vendors are invited to register for any or all of the Farmers Market events by calling either the Market Manager (937-0103) or the Chamber office (937-6177). For any questions, you may also email firstname.lastname@example.org (Chamber office) or email@example.com (Market Manager). Chamber members can have a free space.
