The Alden Chamber of Commerce was organized to actively support business, industry, institutions, organizations and individuals in an effort to enhance the quality of life for the residents of the Village and Town of Alden.
Formed in 1956, the Alden Chamber of Commerce originally sought out doctors for the community and established medical services for the Town. Over the past 45 years, the Chamber has supported numerous community events and developed programs to support and develop business in Alden. The Industrial Park was purchased and started by the Chamber for new businesses to come to the community. They initiated and worked to get the Alden Medical Center, purchased the original Christmas decorations in the Village, and continue to sponsor popular events, such as the Taste of Alden, Christmas in the Park and the Farmers’ Market.

A Message from President Christopher Gust
As we eagerly await for the end of cold weather and finally, the beginning of Spring, I wanted to take a moment and thank the great membership of the Alden Chamber of Commerce for your support, which allows the Chamber to fulfill its mission of supporting local business and industry to enhance the quality of life for the residents of the Town and Village of Alden.
The Chamber wrapped up 2012 with our annual Christmas in the Park, which was well-received by the community. The past year also saw the Chamber operate the Alden Farmers Market for its tenth anniversary season, as well as host the Taste of Alden in June. Our first Golf Outing to raise funds for the Chamber’s scholarship fund was fun and successful. The Chamber was pleased to present its 2012 Business of the Year Award to Wagner’s Agway. The Chamber also continues to partially fund and participate in the Alden Economic Development Committee.
We are pleased to see a nearly full and strong core business district in the Village of Alden, as well as near full capacity in the Save-A-Lot and Tops plazas. We ask our local residents to shop locally and support our Village business core, as well as those businesses of our entire membership. The Board of Directors of the Chamber, its staff and several volunteers are already hard at work planning several exciting events for the community this year. A Wine & Food Tasting fund raiser will be held April 13 at the Whistle Stop, with a portion of the proceeds to be donated to the Alden Historical Society. The Alden Farmers Market will return for its 11th season on
May 11th, our annual Spring Membership and Distinguished Citizen dinner will be held on May 14th, the ever-popular Taste of Alden will kick off the Alden Hook & Ladder Fire Company’s carnival on June 20th and we are planning our second Alden Chamber Golf Outing for July 26th to raise money for our scholarship program.
Our Facebook page has been very successful, with over 1,150 “friends”. If you haven’t already, please check out this great source of up-to-the-minute information on Chamber events and activities, as well as community information.
That’s a small preview of what’s ahead for 2013. Our membership renewal forms will be mailed in May. Please give strong consideration to renewing your membership to the Alden Chamber of Commerce. Membership dues, which are among the lowest in all of Western New York, are a lifeblood to allow the Chamber to continue fulfilling its mission. Please know, also, that the Chamber is constantly looking for new and innovative ways to bring the most benefits and value to our membership.
